How do you suppose this change would make "large-scale" alliance warfare impossible? All it would do would be to make people plan ahead instead of gathering and rushing into it. There are hardly ever any examples from real-life history where a large-scale battle was fought from one minute to the other.
The fact that an entire fleet can move around the entire galaxy in a few minutes is just ridiculous and really ruins the feeling of being a big mass of ships moving together towards a common goal (battle).
I'm all in for removing bookmarks entirely since i really hate safespots too. The people whining the most about this is probably the ones with several thousands of bookmarks...
as someone said maybe not impossable but well.... not worth the work and stress. Imagine a fleet off 200 ships hell even 50 ships doing a treck of around 20 jumps, with insta's they can all arive at the gate at the same time as a single unit no large amount ov bumps generaly being convenint for a large amount of ships.
Now without insta's imagine 200 (or 50) ships all jumping in at 15km.... all ship varying in size, speed, bumping off 1 another, taking frecking for ever to reach 1 gate never mind 20 jumps not moving as a single unit not being able to generaly be an cohesive fleet never mind an effective fleet.
But yes.... you will be able to get better go faster etc etc with planning but this would just add to the already sometime boreing nature of large scale alince warfare.
oh just saw this, this aint r/l this is ment to be fun not a real time warfare sim, some ppl wana just pew pew in big fleet fights u no :x (excuse my spelling)
Then amybee this will mean small fleets instead then instead of blobs. Heres a scenario without bookamrks.
Alliance one decides to invade alliance 2 and sends a 200 ship fleet 10 jumps to the enermy alliances space.
Alliance 2 because of the time it takes to travel 10 jumps gets warned by the big blob aproaching and forms severall 20 ship fleets.
Alliance 2 avoids a big confrontation and uses hit and run tactics with cheap ships to reduce that 200 ship fleet at gates.
Because alliance 1 has a single 200 ship fleet it is less manouverable and very slow because it has to wait for everyone before moving on. while alliance 2 is faster and doesant have to wit so much so can attch alliance 1 blob before every one arrives in the blob fleet.
As you can see without bookamrks bigger fleets dont work but smaller ones do and considering the lag larg fleets cause perhapps smaller fleets are better.
Unless of course you are one of those who love making bookamrks in the 1000's just to lag up rthe oposing fleet -----------------------------------------------
